Welcome
Hello, My (imitative) name is Sabrina Jones and I am writing a book with my co-worker Nicolette Gregory. The book is called Killed in Action. This is the first of anything we have written and we're currently in the process of finishing the novel. My friends helped us come up with the book idea around remembrance day with all the stories of people fighting for their country. The main ideas/themes is a coming of age story, mixed with coping with death, and dealing with war. Here's the summary of our story:
Seven-teen-years old Brooklyn and her sister (Ashlyn) seems to have the perfect life while having an army family. They have a big house, a great mom, a loving family, and a father who always comes back, from his tours fighting for his country, unharmed. Then came the day it all fell apart. Brooklyn knows when she sees the two men in uniform that they bring no good news. After finding out that the father is presumed dead Ashlyn goes into depression, her grades go from bad to worse, and she goes from hanging out with the wrong crowd to doing the wrong things while she's at it. Brooklyn's mom, Victoria, can't deal with the fact that her husband is gone. To top it off they have to move because they can't afford their house without the military income. After Brooklyn looses hope because her family is investing in drugs and is going through a downward spiral, Brooklyn learns not to just assume things when she finds out shocking news about her father. Still it seems as though the damage done by her father and her families drugs is beyond repair. Now everyone involved must face the consequences going forward and Brooklyn must mend her family without loosing herself in the process.
This is all we have for a summary so far because the book isn't finished yet. If you like what you read please go to the Killed in Action Preview page and check out a preview of the book.
